The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Legislation, a panel of seven federal judges, ruled in February to consolidate Missouri’s two cases with those from Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, and New Jersey. The first case is the commission’s lawsuit ordering the state’s telephone companies to comply with subpoenas the commissioners served in June 2006.¶ 11:55 AM
The second is the Justice Department’s lawsuit against the commission, which seeks to block the subpoenas.
